In a world before a “gourmet” burger was a thing, Chefs Jason Boso & Quincy Hart met on their first day in culinary school. They day-dreamed of one day elevating the average, frozen beef burgers that plagued their city. Why couldn’t you get a steak-house quality burger without the fancy tablecloth and big price tag? Five years after culinary school and many restaurant jobs later, Jason and Quincy made their dream come true. They opened Twisted Root Burger Co. in the Deep Ellum neighborhood of Dallas, Texas in 2006. Since then, Twisted Root has appeared on “Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives” with Guy Fieri (2009 & 2019), been named “Best Burger Joint in America” by burgerbusiness.com and won the Hot Concept award from Nation’s Restaurant News. Glenn & Jennifer Pilson, owners here at Winter Park, are fellow burger business veterans. They wisely traded in their Five Guys experience for the quality and personality of Twisted Root. The Root is still a family-run business. You can find Jason, Quincy, Glenn or Jennifer working the line, making wise cracks on the microphone or shaking hands with customers almost every day, making sure you get a delicious meal and a chuckle.
